Basic Engineering Design for Freight Rail Facilities
Project type
Basic engineering design for MEP systems within freight rail infrastructure, delivering construction-ready documentation and coordination support.
Date
2025
Location
Jakarta, Indonesia
The Basic Engineering Design for Freight Rail Facilities project, commissioned by Dinas Perhubungan DKI Jakarta in 2025, aimed to provide foundational engineering designs to support Jakarta’s expanding freight rail network. In response to growing urban freight demand and the strategic need to shift cargo movements to rail to reduce road congestion and improve logistics efficiency, the project focused on planning a train depot and associated support buildings to ensure reliable operations and integration with existing transport infrastructure.
A member of PT Geni Buana Nusantara, in collaboration with POLAR, prepared the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design for the supporting buildings and the planned train depot. Key activities included site assessment, MEP systems sizing and selection, development of detailed engineering drawings and specifications, coordination with civil and rail engineering teams, and verification of compliance with local regulations and technical standards. The final deliverables comprised a complete MEP design package ready for procurement and construction, including drawings, equipment schedules, and installation and maintenance guidelines - these outputs are intended to streamline the tendering process and support reliable, maintainable depot operations.
